Adam M:
What’s up, everyone! Welcome back to Metal Radio, I’m your host Adam M and no, not the pop star, but the guy who lives for music, in every form. Whether it’s booming 808s or double kicks and growls, we’re here for it.
Today, we’ve got someone straight outta the pit frontman of Ashen Reign, guitarist, screamer, and survivor of many wild tours… Erik Steelfire! Thanks for joining, man.
Erik “Steelfire” Hansen:
Karol! Stoked to be here, man. Love the vibe already wasn’t expecting reggaeton and blast beats to live in the same space, but here we are. [laughs]
Adam M:
That’s what we do here we blend the chaos. So let’s start heavy: what was the moment you knew metal was your world?
Erik:
Honestly? The first time I heard Pantera. I was a kid, heard Walk, and it just punched me in the chest. That tone, that attitude… I knew I wanted to make people feel like that.
Adam M:
Respect. That track still slaps. So tell me your newest album Black Crown Fall what’s the story behind it?
Erik:
It’s a personal record. We went darker, more atmospheric. I lost my dad last year, and the grief hit hard. Writing was the only way to process it. It’s about facing shadows and coming out swinging.
Adam M:
Powerful. You know, I work mostly in Latin and trap beats, but it’s the emotion that connects everything. Grief, love, rage it hits, no matter the BPM.
Let me ask you this would you ever experiment with Latin rhythms in your music?
Erik:
Man, 100%. I love tribal drums, syncopated stuff it’s primal. Put that under a crushing riff? Magic. I don’t care about genres, I care about feeling.
Adam M:
Hell yeah. So, if we made a track metal meets reggaeton, pure madness you in?
Erik (laughs):
Count me in. Let’s break the internet.
Adam M (laughing):
Say less.
Alright, last one. Advice for upcoming metalheads who want to find their voice?
Erik:
Be raw. Don’t fake the aggression. Write from truth even if it’s ugly. And practice. Your passion should outlive the trends.
Adam M:
Spoken like a true warrior.
Erik Steelfire, everyone. Go stream Black Crown Fall, and follow this man before he breaks another stage. I’m Adam M thanks for tuning in to Crosswaves.
